# Copilot seats

> Licences with no activity in the last 30 days, and reclaiming them.

`copilot.idle`

A Copilot seat is idle when GitHub's `last_activity_at` for it is more than 30 days ago, or has never been set.

Excluded:

- seats created in the last 30 days, which have not had a month to be used;
- seats already pending cancellation.

`last_activity_at` counts IDE activity only when the editor sends telemetry. Someone who uses Copilot with telemetry disabled shows as idle. Check the list before reclaiming.

## Reclaiming

Tick the seats and press **Reclaim selected seats**. opsen calls:

GitHub sets each seat to *pending cancellation*: the person keeps Copilot until the end of the current billing cycle, and you stop paying for it from the next one. Reassigning the seat restores it immediately.

Seats assigned through a team are marked **via team** in the report. Reclaiming one directly does not remove the person from the team, and GitHub will assign the seat again. Remove them from the team instead.
